Ownership Guide

Logbook transfer, explained

The logbook is your car's proof of ownership. Every Monafriq sale — buying, selling or trading in — includes a managed transfer through NTSA, so ownership changes hands correctly and securely.

Payment first, then transfer

Ownership only changes hands once payment is confirmed. For sellers, that means your logbook stays in your name until funds arrive; for buyers, it means the car you pay for is legally yours before you drive away.

What you need

Documents for a transfer

Original logbook in the seller's name
National ID (or passport) copies for both parties
KRA PIN certificates for both parties
A signed sale agreement — prepared by Monafriq
No outstanding finance or legal encumbrance on the vehicle
NTSA TIMS accounts for both buyer and seller

How it works

Five steps to a clean transfer

1

Verify the logbook

We confirm the logbook is genuine, unencumbered, and matches the seller's identity.

2

Sign the sale agreement

Both parties sign a Monafriq-prepared agreement recording price, condition and terms.

3

Payment is confirmed

Funds are transferred securely; the seller confirms receipt before anything moves.

4

NTSA transfer is initiated

The seller initiates and the buyer accepts the transfer in NTSA TIMS — we walk both parties through it.

5

New logbook is issued

NTSA processes the change and the new logbook is issued in the buyer's name.
